The intersection of First St. and Stadium Dr. will be closed from Saturday, Nov. 14, through Tuesday, Nov. 17.
The closure is necessitated by utility work on Adams State College’s new Residences at Rex, according to Erik van de Boogaard, Adams State associate vice president for facilities planning, design & construction.

Westbound traffic on First St. east of the intersection will be detoured north on Monterey to El Rio; while eastbound traffic west of the intersection will be detoured south to Edgemont and Hwy. 160. Construction crews will be tying the new campus building into city water, storm, and sewer systems.

The college broke ground July 9 for the Residences at Rex, a 16,250 square-foot building that will combine 16 four-bedroom student apartments with community facilities at Rex Stadium. This is the first new student residence hall to be built at Adams State in more than 40 years. Included in the $22 million project are renovation of one wing of Coronado residence hall and a new parking lot west of Neilsen Library on First St.
